The Mirror of the Core
I have always been concerned with facing my demons and proving to myself that I am stronger than them. Only those who have had the courage to go so deep know how difficult it is to achieve victory over your fears, for they dig their claws into your chest, and in a flash of magic you move away from the light and return to the darkness, heading toward the shadows where they revel.
This is not about religion. It’s about human beings. Don’t classify “demons” as little red creatures with tridents, tails, and horns; each person has their own demons. It’s the sum total of your mistakes and flaws. It’s you, at your worst.
Facing them is very difficult, and few are the courageous people capable of looking at themselves. A mirror reflecting your core. Being able to see what afflicts you is one of the greatest internal challenges, since living in the comfort of ignorance seems so much better; after all, the simplest human beings are those who believe they have no flaws at all.
It’s frightening, the difference between what we are and what we believe ourselves to be… and few are prepared to comprehend this reality. Remember, in church alongside faith, dogmas usually come in the package, with no possibility of customization. Almost like a manufactured deity sold in supermarkets with different labels for every taste.
Your faith should not be solely tied to religion or to symbols, translations, and human interpretations of God. Try also to seek on your own your own belief, your own faith, your own doctrine, your own God, one that doesn’t come packaged at 1.99 with pesticides.
Concern yourself with you and what you want; once you do, you’ll see that there aren’t as many Gods or acronyms as on TV, and that everyone seeks the same thing. After all, there is so much diversity of languages, tastes, trends, concepts, and cultures… how could we expect everyone to interpret the figure of ‘God’ in a single, perfect, stigmatized, and unanimous way.
Of course there will always be people who interpret God in the most varied forms, that is being human; it is being complex even with the simplest thing there is: faith.
